Abstract

The Keynote Address will be delivered by Richard D. Kahlenberg, a Senior Fellow at the Century Foundation in Washington, DC. Richard has been called "the intellectual father of the economic integration movement," and is "arguably the nation's chief proponent of class-based affirmative action in higher education admissions." Richard will present his research on class-based affirmative action, followed by a response from Stephen Menendian on the merits of race-based affirmative action. Stephen is the Assistant Director of the Haas Institute for a Fair Inclusive Society and also co-authored an amicus brief in Fisher v. University of Texas, the most recent Supreme Court decision on affirmative action.
